Medieval Engineers is a sandbox game about engineering, construction and the maintenance of architectural work and mechanical equipment using medieval technology.
Hello, Engineers!Today’s post is about the status of Medieval Engineers.Coming back to where it all began, Medieval Engineers was our fourth project. We kicked it off at the beginning of 2014 and we announced the project blog.marekrosa.orgin January 2015. We established a dedicated team, working in parallel to the Space Engineers team.Medieval Engineers was quickly presented with the Czech Game of the Year 2014Technical Contribution Award, mainly due to its volumetric environment and structural integrity. Our goal was to create a game inspired by real medieval technology and the way people built architectural works and mechanical equipment using it. The game brought three major upgrades to our VRAGE engine: structural integrity, natural landscapes, and physics based rendering and it also gave us an opportunity to experiment with many things.
We haven’t released a major update since February 2019. The reason for this decision was that we changed the focus of the Keen Software House team. We have restructured the team, focused on moving Space Engineers out of Early Access, then on the development of Space Engineers for Xbox One, and the continual support and upgrades for Space Engineers. We re-evaluated the Medieval Engineers project and, looking at the numbers, we have decided to end development on this title and release the game out of Early Access.Today, we are releasing an update, which will address some critical game bugs. For example, world chunking issues. We want to stabilize the game and get it to a more playable state. What will you find in this update?
This release fixes a problem with grids disappearing from the world, as well as several game crashes you experienced during gameplay. With this release, we are reducing the price to $9.99USD, or your regional Steam equivalent. Over the coming weeks, everyone who owns the base version of Medieval Engineers will receive the Deluxe version, for free.FAQQ: Why are you releasing this update now?A: We were planning this update for quite a long time, but as we restructured our team, we simply did not find the right time to put it all together for the release.Q: Are you coming back to Medieval Engineers?
In other words, should we expect more updates in the upcoming months?A: We have decided to focus on one project at a time. Our immediate focus is Space Engineers for PC and our upcoming release of Space Engineers for Xbox. We do not currently plan further major updates for Medieval Engineers.
Medieval Engineers has been a great project for us.Q: So what is happening with the game?A: I feel that the Medieval Engineers fulfilled all the plans we had at the beginning. I understand that some players may feel that the game has a greater, unrealized, potential.

It only requires a 2,260-foot runway for landing, which is 1,000 feet less than what other similar sized comparable aircraft require. This new aircraft uses a similar proven wing design used in the Falcon 900 family. This also displays a similar landing performance on the 2000S. Falcon 2000 interior. Posted: 6 AprilThis is abandonware. Bugs galore, incomplete builds. So many things you need mods to complete with, like water! The vanilla game does not have any water! No weather systems, no AI, nothing at all to do but build yourself a castle.
Online netcode is spotty, with random packet losses and just sheer drudgery. They could have made something good with this, but they decided to quit and all go work on their other project, Space Engineer's. I wouldn't give them another red cent if I was any of you. Posted: 6 AprilI'm not going to say this game had potential. It didn't.Medieval Engineers was a second-rate ground-based version of Space Engineers, developed as a side-by-side before they introduced planets into Space Engineers.
This was your side of hashbrowns, sold separately, before hashbrowns came with the main course.Everything that happens with Space Engineers is tied directly to this game, and you can see that Keen has decided to abandon this - just like they've abandoned developmental good will in Space Engineers. To put it simply, they have gotten greedy.Keen Software House got lucky with one concept - that concept is Space Engineers. Needless to say, take one minute to look what they've decided to do with all continuing updates and additions to that game - new blocks are now locked behind a paywall. These are parts that add functionality, improve the game, and continue development. Instead of continuing to support the people that were there for them through good and bad (and when I say bad, it was unplayable because of planets and multiplayer issues for a very long time), they've decided to exploit the customers as cattle to fill their glass. This game existed purely because they wanted to experiment with planets. This game never had the potential to be anything like Space Engineers, because Space Engineers is the only game that Keen has had the talent to create.
They've run this one into the ground, it's only a matter of time before they run Space Engineers into the ground too unless the community decides to step up and say something.
